About Rita Smith - Chingford Hypnotherapy
Hypnosis, Hypnotherapy and Pure Hypnoanalysis

Rita is a member of the International Association of Pure Hypnoanalysts

Hi there, my name is Rita Smith and I am 47 years old with two fabulous kids a great partner and peace in my  ‘mind’  that you wouldn’t believe!    I would like to take this opportunity in telling you a bit about myself because a few   years ago  I  was out there looking for someone to help me sort my life out  and  I didn’t have a clue who to go to ! I kept looking at web pages for counsellors, therapists  hypno-analysts or just anyone that I could connect with  and I just became more confused.  I wasn’t in a great place emotionally having had a bereavement and then the breakdown of my marriage and felt guilty about everything.  I was struggling to be a good mum,  I was in floods of  tears for no apparent reason one minute and I would  then fly off the handle the next.

Drinking wine in evening became a bit of a regular thing and It just made me feel even worse in the morning. It became a  perpetual cycle of bad behaviour and to be honest I just felt vulnerable.  It became harder to see the bigger picture and from someone who most people would  describe  as a very strong lady, I felt that I needed some professional help to get me through that difficult part of my life.  I even had a course of medication to help me feel better, thinking it must be ‘hormonal’, but having  finished the pills  the symptoms were back again.

Well it was then that my interest in ‘therapy’ took hold and after a period of time  studying the mind and how it affects our emotions I qualified as an Hypnotherapist  and then took another course and qualified  with the International Association of Pure Hypnoanalysis  as  a Hypno-Analyst.

It’s quite amazing  how events in our childhood and our personality type  ‘cloud’ our view of life. Those events and emotions are the key to the choices we make as adults when choosing a partner for ourselves.  If we are hurting inside then many of us will  sub-consciously  attract  someone who is also is pain so that we can focus on them and in turn ignore our own feelings.  I  really do believe that many of us are carrying around  emotional baggage and when we find ourselves going through a difficult time then we can’t seem to react in a rational way because our emotions are being ‘triggered’ by the those past events.  What makes it more incredible is  that the majority of us aren’t even consciously aware of what those events were  We may be able to think back into our past and recall an event that caused us pain  and we can look at it from an adult point of view but when the event happened we were only  children and just weren’t able to  process it so we -  bottled it up.  That very emotion, when it is found and re-experienced  is the same  emotion that frees us and heals  us from  our phobias, IBS, anxieties, stutters, stammers, depression, eating disorders, low-self esteem and  irrational fears.    That my friend is the real phenomenon behind   hypno-analysis.   I am sure that most of you reading this, are very wary and a little surprised that Hypnotherapy can help sort out unwanted emotions -   I know that I was.  My only knowledge of it was stage hypnosis and I thought that it just made people look like idiots!  How wrong I  was  -  not of the ‘stage hypnotists’ (my views are still the same)) – but of the whole phenomenon  surrounding hypnotherapy.  You see, when you’re completely relaxed  (hypnotised) and feel safe with your analyst  all of your senses are heightened and your ability to recall events naturally through free association are much greater.  You can access memories, experiences and most importantly emotions and my favourite saying is that “When you feel it – you heal it”.  It does however, take time and commitment -  both financial and emotional that is,  but when you think about counselling in a traditional way it can take many years to feel the benefits.  Hypno-analysis takes a fraction of the time somewhere between 6 and 12 weekly sessions.      I can really talk from experience as one of the pre-requisites/conditions of qualifying for this superb association is that you have to go through your own ‘personal therapy’.

The International Association of Pure Hypnoanalysts (IAPH), formerly known as the International Association of Hypnoanalysts (IAH), has been in operation since 1984.
The International Association of Pure Hypnoanalysts (IAPH) is the largest groups of hypnoanalysts in the world, and the only group of pure hypnoanalysts.

If you can accept what I have said above then you really are on your way to changing your view of the world – Its almost looking at life through a fresh pair of eyes and it  truly is the most incredible gift you can give yourself.  Removing (excessive) destructive emotions, like anger, fear and guilt,  changes your perspective on life and  changes every relationship you have, from your partner to children to family and to friends.  When you really do love and respect yourself  then you  find that  people will love and respect you too.
